In order to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of Major Lazer, a Jamaican-American electronic dance music trio featuring a variety of invited artists on every album, Believe commissioned us to build a website, which would accompany the launch of a compilation album created by the band on this occasion, Major Lazer Essentials.
The album cover was designed like a frieze to be unfolded, revealing all the artists involved in the project.
Users can explore Major Lazer's universe through an infinite interactive experience thought like a frieze, click on the characters to unveil the multiple artists and, this way, read about ten years of collaborations.
We loved the album’s graphic identity and its cel-shaded style, which is a big trend in games design. We absolutely wanted to keep this cool and personal approach for the website; that’s why we’ve worked closely with Major Lazer’s illustrator in order to remain true to their identity. We’ve also made the platform mobile-friendly and accessible from the artists’ Instagram stories.
